MaidEnergy is excited to announce the launch of their latest community share offer for a pioneering solar project at Furze Platt Senior School. As a not-for-profit organisation committed to introducing renewable energy to some of the borough’s most-used buildings, MaidEnergy’s new share offer will fund the installation of 240kW of solar PV on the roof of the school. This represents MaidEnergy’s biggest installation to date and will provide long-term, secure renewable energy supply to Furze Platt Senior School at a fixed low cost. Download the share pack here.
 

So why should you invest in this project?

The school will receive a donation of shares in MaidEnergy, which will provide future income from interest payments and a cash benefit when the school requests to withdraw its share capital. MaidEnergy is even offering to donate the panels to the site after 15 years.

In addition, by buying shares, investors will join MaidEnergy in financing new installations, expanding the impact of renewable energy within the local community. MaidEnergy has already financed and installed solar panels on seven community buildings, generating income from sales of power and the Feed-in Tariff for renewable energy.

The numbers

We launched our first renewable electricity generating community Solar Photovoltaic (PV) share offer in 2015.  Since then people have demonstrated their faith in us by investing £691,000. Their investment has funded seven Solar PV installations totalling 384kW and a 60kW Ground Source Heat Pump.  These installations have brought low carbon, lower priced renewable energy to public organisations and seen 220 local and national investors join a movement of ethical and financially rewarding community ownership. 

Investing in MaidEnergy’s community share scheme will offer a projected annual return of 5% over a 15-year period, paid annually, and will be capped at the higher of 5% or Retail Price Index (RPI) plus 2%. With a minimum investment of £100 per member and a maximum of £90,000 or such a lower amount as takes a member to 10% of the total issued equity, investing in renewable energy has never been easier.
